How to Maintain and Care for Your Rollator

How to Maintain and Care for Your Rollator

If you've invested in a 2-in-1 rollator wheelchair or rollator transport chair from Mobility Nest, you want to make sure you properly maintain it to keep it functioning well for years to come. Here are some tips for caring for your rollator:

Clean Regularly

Keep your rollator clean by wiping it down regularly with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris. Pay extra attention to the wheels and moving parts. For stuck-on messes, you can use a mild detergent. Make sure all parts are completely dry before storing your rollator. A clean rollator will last longer and look like new for years.

Inspect the Wheels

The wheels are one of the most important parts of your rollator, so inspect them frequently for any signs of damage or wear and tear. Look for cracks, dents, or wheels that don't spin properly. Replace any damaged wheels immediately - worn out or faulty wheels could affect your safety and stability. Mobility Nest offers replacement wheel kits for all our rollator models.

Test the Brakes

The braking system is critical for safety, so check that the hand brakes are functioning properly before each use. The brakes should lock the wheels firmly in place when engaged. If the brakes seem loose, sticky or are not working, contact us immediately for repair or replacement. Your safety depends on fully functioning brakes, so don't delay in addressing any issues.

Oil the Moving Parts

Apply a small amount of lightweight oil, like WD-40, to the pivot points and hinges on your rollator every few months or if parts start to squeak. This will keep parts moving freely and prevent rust. Wipe away any excess oil after application. Lubricating your rollator will keep all moving parts working smoothly for years to come.

Adjust or Replace Accessories

If your rollator has accessories like a seat, basket or tray, inspect them regularly and adjust or replace them as needed. Seats may need tightening or re-padding for comfort. Baskets and trays should be securely attached and without any sharp edges. Contact us for replacement parts to keep your rollator fully functional.

Annual Service

For optimal performance, we recommend having your rollator serviced by Mobility Nest once a year. Our technicians will inspect all parts, test the brakes, lubricate moving joints and wheels, and ensure everything is adjusted for your safety, comfort and convenience. An annual service appointment will keep your rollator rolling for years to come.

By properly maintaining your 2-in-1 rollator wheelchair, you'll keep it safe, comfortable and ready to provide you with affordable mobility for years to come. Let the team at Mobility Nest know if you have any other questions or need assistance keeping your rollator in excellent condition. We're here to help!
